In today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape, NXP continues to lead innovation with the announcement of our new
Autonomous Secure Access Solution. This system-level solution is set to revolutionize the access control
industry by enabling a more autonomous experience,
starting with the moment you approach your home.
Picture this: your front door’s smart lock automatically unlocks as
you
approach, using your cell phone without you having to take it out of your pocket, unlock it, and open an
app—providing
a secure, hands-free experience. NXP’s Autonomous Secure Access Solution combines secure access and
autonomous
technologies into a complete platform, giving product manufacturers the tools they need to develop and deploy
optimized
products. This approach reduces complexity and speeds time to market while empowering companies building smart
access
devices to deliver differentiated products to the market.
Now, instead of having to search for the relevant hardware components for their use case, develop the software to
make
everything work together, and then build an application, companies can start with NXP's already optimized and
certification ready system-level solution with ensured cell phone interoperability, and then leverage NXP’s
expertise
to tailor their offering.

Bringing the Autonomous Home Experience to Your Front Door—And Beyond
NXP’s Autonomous
Secure Access Solution eases development and, at the same time, enables homes that are smarter, more
secure and more intelligent. With the growing trend of seamless, secure access, NXP remains focused on translating
our
expertise in security, access and interoperability technologies into system solutions.
NXP’s Autonomous
Secure Access Solution will also support Aliro , a new standard in
development by the Connectivity
Standards Alliance, which standardizes a common credential and communication protocol to increase
interoperability
when
using mobile and wearable devices for digital access. As an Aliro technology preview, NXP’s
Autonomous
Secure Access Solution advances the vision of a more interoperable and secure smart home ecosystem.
What’s Under the Hood of NXP’s Autonomous Secure Access Solution?
At the heart of NXP’s Autonomous
Secure Access Solution is the powerful FRDM-MCXW71 development board leveraging the
processing capabilities of the MCX
W7x family, its Bluetooth Low Energy radio and embedded secure enclave tailored
to
support Matter and Aliro security requirements. The add-on Murata Arduino shield board includes the Murata Type 2JE
module, which includes NXPs SR150 Trimension UWB product for hands-free access and a
dedicated, closed system
version
of NXP’s PN7642 NFC
controller with preloaded functionality for tap-and-go access which links to the MCX W7x as a
plug-and-play component. Integration of the EdgeLock SE051 Secure Element
can be added to further scale the security
of
the
system with protection of credentials against advanced hardware attacks.
One of the standout features of NXP’s Autonomous
Secure Access Solution is its fully integrated and optimized system,
which combines the necessary hardware components with software, and a cloud-based provisioning service. The
implementation leverages unique capabilities enabled by the complete NXP solution to tune for performance, power,
memory
size and robustness. The complete solution enables lower BOM cost, easier form factor design, indoor/outdoor
detection and ensured interoperability with the mobile ecosystem. This scalable solution integrates security
capabilities
with access
technologies like UWB and NFC, along with autonomy-enabling technologies such as Thread, Bluetooth LE and Matter.
NXP’s complete solution integrates various technologies for smart access control and
interoperability.
In addition, future evolutions of this solution will integrate capabilities such as Wi-Fi, capacitive touch user
interfaces and full support of MIFARE smart card products which are playing a leading role in today's NFC access
systems
for residential, enterprise and hospitality markets.
With the FRDM board ecosystem, this solution can be easily expanded to support use cases that need a larger memory
footprint (the MCX W72 is in
preproduction and pin compatible with MCX
W71) or the addition of Wi-Fi with our RW612
Tri-Radio Wireless MCU. Supported by user-friendly integrated middleware and mature end-to-end components,
the
Autonomous Secure Access Solution streamlines development by cutting through complexity and enables engineers to
focus
on product differentiation.

NXP's module partners are prepared to design and support locks with optimized power and footprint. This comprehensive
approach ensures that the solution is not only secure but also flexible and deployable, meeting the diverse needs of
smart homes. For example, NXP collaborated with partner Murata on an integrated small form factor module to make it
easier for our customers to develop, test, certify and deploy the solution.
Murata's commitment to innovation and collaboration is evidenced in this miniaturized, high-performance, highly
integrated module. By leveraging our proprietary technology and NXP's Trimension UWB products, we have delivered
a
robust solution.
